Well quite allot has been happening lately, especially for some of our customers. The first that should not escape mention is Karls Evo 2 RS. We have guided this Evo since it came into hands with Karl. From supplying advice and engine components Karl had the ideal combination of parts that he hoped would produce some serious power, and he was not wrong.
Mapping was completed mid July at Surrey Rolling road using Tesco 99 ron fuel. Power rose quickly with 500bhp being passed with ease. Shortly after the first full power runs at 2.1 bar became possible, and finally the session ended having achieved 621bhp @ 2.15 bar boost. Not bad indeed! Lets not forget this is a road car running on pump fuel!
Next we had another one of our customers, this time Simon Holmes in his street legal Pulsar GTi-R enter the HKS drag series Round 3. Anyone who is familiar with this will know that the last event at Jap Show (again at Santa Pod) was rained off, and since the car was not ready in time for Round 1, this was Simons first attempt at the real thing. The qualifying rounds came without incident. With the pulsar performing well. Again running a conservative ignition map, and V-power fuel, the car performed consistent 11.2s @ 125mph, placing it 5th overall.
Eliminations didn't go so well. On the first round Simon achieved a fantastic launch leaving the Supra of Robert McKeon wondering what had happened, however unfortunately thats where it ended as the pulsar gearbox failed as soon as second gear was engaged leaving Simon stranded on the track. Robert took the win. You can see the video here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NiM-lmSMWzU. The sad thing is Simon cut 0.4 sec of his 60ft on this race that would have surely seen him in the 10's, leaving him possibly second or third fastest on the day. There is still so much more to come, and we wish simon better luck next season.
