Pulsar Tuning Update, Bye bye gearbox... PDF Print E-mail
Wednesday, 20 June 2007

Well it had to happen soon. This afternoon whilst on the way to Surrey Rolling Road, final checks were being made on the new setup. Now running 2bar+ the car was pulling seriously hard, our expectations where high. However the gearbox had other plans and decided it had enough as third gear was ripped to shreds. It's a known weakness of the pulsar, in fact its one of the pulsars only mechanical weaknesses, the gearbox that is.

As a result of this the gearbox will now be rebuilt with a standard gear set, the power reduced back to something more sensible and the car will be sold. We proved what we set out to, that was the 3071 as a very capable turbo and on a pretty simple setup, and finally using a remapped stock ecu, and we now have the figures to back it up, We were really hoping for the 450+bhp graph, and we may no never really know what it was making but it goes without saying it was seriously quick.
