Injector Sizing on the E-manage Blue PDF Print E-mail
Thursday, 22 December 2005
Q: What is the largest injector that the Blue E-manage is capable of controlling, and what will happen if I exceed this?

A: Greddy states that the Blue E-manage is capable of controlling injectors upto 150% larger than the original injectors.

For example if you have 400cc stock injectors you should be fine with upto 600cc. However the E-manage actually isnt the limiting factor on injection size. The correction takes place by modifying the airflow signal to the ECU, and provided there is enough room for alteration within the ECU larger injectors can be fitted. A perfect example of this is the Pulsar GTi-R where 720cc injectors are no problem at all.

If you exceed the limit at which the stock ECU has adjustment for you will find that idle and part throttle fuelling especially at low rpm's may be very rich. Simply put the stock ECU will not send short enough duration pulses to the injectors and so it is not possible to lean out the mixture to the right ratio regardless of what you try on the E-manage.

There several ways to overcome this such as choosing the right size injector or fitting additional injectors and controlling them on the additional injection from within the e-manage. However if you really need to go this far you are clearly after big power, and would probably be better opting for the E-manage Ultimate which takes over complete control of injection pulses, and as such the injector size limitation is removed.
