Nissan ECU remapping - Best of both worlds. PDF Print E-mail

We now offer Nissan ECU re-mapping. (If you want to know more about the basics of mapping please see this page.) What this means is we take your stock OEM ECU, and make a minor modification to it which allows us to tune - in real-time EVERY parameter of it.

Not only this we can offer two different types of systems, depending on your needs.

One we call a REAL-TIME upgrade. This allows any future changes to be done with no further access to the ECU since its programmed via the Cars diagnostics plug. With this we can also supply the software to map the stock ECU (possibly a world first?!!) at an additional cost.

The second is a multi-map system. This system is specific to SR20 based cars and allows upto four maps to be stored within the stock ECU, switch-able at any time by the owner, even whilst the engine is running. They have many uses, such as service/valet mode which will limit the car to 30 mph, and 3000 rpm, or a race fuel map, or whatever you want. The only downside is setup is more expensive and any future remaps require access to the ecu.

Importantly what both systems provide is a means to get a fully fledged extremely powerful mappable ECU for less than the price of a decent piggy back system. In fact the capability's of the mappable ECU's are so good that unless you specifically want a race features found in much more expensive after market systems, nothing comes close to them.

For a recent example, take the Nissan Pulsar GTi-R. Stock ECU is setup for 440cc injectors, small airflow meter, and is designed to run on a small T28 turbo. Clearly no good for a fully forged engine 1000cc injectors and 2 bar of boost from one of our 3071 turbos.
However once fitted with our upgrade all these limits are removed. 1000cc injectors become no problem, rev limits can be increased whilst fuel and ignition tables can be corrected and the airflow meter upgraded. Its exactly what we did to our own test Pulsar which then delivered well over 400bhp at only 1.5 bar boost.

Introduction

Thank for for showing an interest in our ECU tuning services. In order to explain what we offer we have broken down this subject a couple of areas. If you are unsure about what mapping means or what it could offer please continue to the first section, other wise jump past this onto 'I am interested, what next?'.

What is Mapping?

Chances are if you're reading this page you already have an idea of what mapping is. Ultimately it boils down to one thing: the modification and optimisation of the ECU software that runs your engine.

There are many reasons why you may want to do this, not at least the fact that in some cases you stand to gain significant improvements in engine performance, but also the fact that many standard manufacturer programmes are quite conservative
In most systems anything can be altered, from simple tweaking of flat spots to full out race mapping on race fuel, with big injectors and larger turbos. Almost every car will benefit from an ECU tune up, however obviously every car is different so it is impossible to put exact figures on what they stand to gain. What can be said though is that the more changes you have made from the OEM factory setup the more likely you are to benefit, and in some cases vitally require a remap.

I am interested, what next?

In order to cater for your needs we offer two primary options:

The first is that we come to you and the mapping is completed on the road.

The second is we can arrange time for you at Surrey Rolling Road. This is more suited to higher power cars were road tuning simply isn't safe or recommended.

The advantage of us offering this as a mobile service is that we are able to save you costs on trailer hire etc if your car currently will not run on its present setup.

All of these services are quoted on an indervidual basis depending on what is required, however we are very competitive with prices starting from £120 (see below) so please do contact us.

If you also would like us to fit your electronics too then we can also help. Since this nearly always includes setting up of the electronics we have install options on a fixed price for most of the vehicles we work on. The more advanced non-plug and play systems we quote on an individual basis so get in touch if this applies to you.
